Shenwen Li is a full professor in the Department of Historical Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences, specializing in Chinese history and the history of Chinese–Western relations in the 17th and 18th centuries.
In addition to working on the sociocultural history of the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) periods, the last two Chinese imperial dynasties, he is interested in East–West contact, particularly as it pertains to Christian traditions and traditional Chinese society.
