École internationale d’été sur les terrorismes is organized by Centre sur la sécurité internationale (CSI). The summer school takes a multidisciplinary approach (political science, law, economics, public administration, criminology, etc.) and looks at contemporary practices related to terrorism and counter-terrorism.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 2021 EDITION OF THE SUMMER SCHOOL IS CANCELLED due to the health situation in Québec.

Training objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Better understand the many facets of terrorism
  • Examine the consequences of the threat different forms of terrorism pose to society
  • Understand how counter-terrorism strategies work and their impact on democratic systems

Brief description of the École d’été sur les Terrorismes

What

  • The summer school welcomes some twenty speakers who are internationally recognized in their field and are either practitioners on the ground or university researchers.    
  • The summer school is a 3 credit course (ETI-7017). It can be taken in non-credit mode. 
  • It is one of the courses that make up the Short Graduate Program in Diplomatic and Strategic Affairs. So you can start or continue the short program by attending this school

 

    When and where

    • In May at Université Laval
    • 1 intensive week 7 days (Sunday to Saturday)

    For who

    • Graduate students and professionals from the public and broader public sectors, as well as the private sector. Students who are finishing their undergraduate degree (60 credits completed) may be accepted under certain conditions.

    How

    • Issues are addressed using a multidisciplinary approach: political science, law, economics, and criminology.
    • The educational format combines lectures, roundtables or debates, workshops, seminars, simulations, field trips and public networking events.
