Isabelle Blanchette est professeure titulaire à l’École de Psychologie depuis septembre 2019, aussi affiliée au Centre de recherche Cervo. Elle détient un PhD en psychologie expérimentale de l’Université McGill. Après un post-doctorat à University of London, elle a débuté sa carrière à l’University of Manchester, en Grande-Bretagne, et a ensuite travaillé à l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières où elle a dirigé le groupe de recherche CogNAC (Cognition, Neurosciences, Affect et Comportement).
Ses travaux sont financés par le CRSH, le CRSNG et la FCI. Les travaux de recherche d’Isabelle Blanchette explorent l’effet des émotions et des événements traumatiques sur les processus cognitifs tels le raisonnement, l’attention et la mémoire. Elle mène un programme de recherche dans la région des Grands Lacs Africains qui vise à comprendre l’impact des expériences liées au génocide des Tutsis en 1994 (au Rwanda) ou aux conflits armés (en République Démocratique du Congo) sur la santé mentale et sur la santé cognitive des individus. Ces travaux abordent notamment les violences sexuelles, les liens entre la santé psychologique et la participation au processus de justice, les enjeux de réconciliation et la construction des perspectives de paix.
